How Long Do Coffee Wood Chews Last?
A fixed promise of days or weeks sounds helpful until two customers use the same stick very differently. One dog may carry it and chew occasionally; another may work on it intensely. Without knowing the dog, the dimensions and the pattern of use, a lifespan figure says very little.
The starting size is only one part of the story
Length, diameter and natural variation affect the amount of material in a stick. Chewing behavior and the time spent using it affect wear. Storage and moisture exposure also belong in the product record. Comparing two sticks only by their S or M labels can hide substantial differences.
When choosing samples, keep the dimensions and weight with each SKU. That makes later feedback more useful: you can distinguish a size-selection problem from a construction or quality issue.
Replacement is a condition decision
A chew is not suitable for continued use merely because some wood remains. Remove it if it cracks, becomes damaged or wears down to a size that could be swallowed. Loose pieces need to be removed promptly. Do not ask an owner to continue using a damaged item to achieve an advertised number of days.
The product is not food. If a dog is trying to break off and swallow pieces, stop using that chew and discuss a more suitable choice with a veterinarian.
Collect feedback that can actually be compared
For ordinary customer-service records, note the product, size, batch, dog's approximate size, reported pattern of use and reason for replacement. These are observations, not a controlled study. They can still reveal useful patterns, especially when paired with photographs.
Keep receipt-condition complaints in a separate category. A crack found when opening a carton and a worn stick after use need different investigations. Mixing them into one durability score makes both harder to understand.
Write a better answer for the product page
Explain that lifespan varies, state the dimensions and show clear replacement guidance. If a brand later wants to publish an average or compare its product with another, it needs a defined method, relevant data and appropriate animal-welfare safeguards. A few enthusiastic reviews do not establish a general performance claim.
For buyers, repeatability matters more than a dramatic lifespan promise. Agree the specification, retain a reference sample and give the factory precise feedback. That is the practical route to a more consistent product.
