Coffee Wood Chew Size Guide: Matching Size to Dog Weight
Sizing is the single biggest factor in both safety and satisfaction with a coffee wood chew. Undersized chews get consumed too fast (and pose a choking risk); oversized chews go untouched. Here's the full breakdown.
| Size | Dog weight | Example breeds |
|---|---|---|
| XS | Up to 3kg | Chihuahua, Maltese, Pomeranian, Yorkshire Terrier |
| S | 3–5kg | Yorkshire Terrier, Bichon Frise, King Charles Spaniel, Miniature Poodle |
| M | 5–8kg | Bichon Frise, Dachshund, Jack Russell Terrier, Pug, Shih Tzu |
| L | 8–12kg | Dachshund, Cocker Spaniel, French Bulldog, Poodle, Sheltie, Shiba |
| XL | 12–20kg | Beagle, Akita, Samoyed, Husky, Shar-Pei, Labrador |
| XXL | 20kg and up | Chow-Chow, Boxer, Weimaraner, Bull Terrier, large Labrador/Husky |
When to size up rather than down
For confirmed strong or "aggressive" chewers, size up one level regardless of weight — a large, motivated chewer can reduce an appropriately-sized-by-weight chew to a swallowable piece faster than a light chewer of the same size. See our guide for aggressive chewers.
Merchandising sizing clearly
Retailers who print a simple weight-to-size chart directly on pack see fewer sizing-related returns and complaints than those who leave sizing to guesswork. Use the table above as a starting template for your own packaging.
